It has been five years since the first Killing Floor evolved from an Unreal Tournament mod into a standalone game, so it was about time for it to receive a sequel. Tripwire announced that Killing Floor 2 is in production via their Facebook page, where this image you’re seeing above suddenly popped up.
PC Gamer spoke to creative director and animator Bill Munk, as well as Tripwire’s President John Gibson, about the game in an exclusive interview and both men were eager to proclaim that this was the first time a game in this franchise was allocated a sizable budget. Bill Munk stated that: “This is the first time we had the budget for me to do mocap for everything and try to make everything look as sick as possible.” Besides better animation, the game will also have more staff behind it, so we can probably assume that it will be a lot bigger than its predecessor.
While the release date has not been determined yet, Tripwire intends to release the game on Steam Early Access whenever it’s ready. For more in-depth information, I recommend checking out the interview on PCGamer.
