Killer Frequency, by Team17 Digital, is a new adventure/horror game with comedy elements that will be released for Steam, Meta Quest, and consoles on June 1st, 2023.
The trailer shows stylized 3D graphics with a lot of neon lights. A radio DJ speaks with a woman on the phone. She is terrified. There’s a killer on the loose, and he’s after her. Another voice tells us of a serial killer who was originally active in the 1950s. Now the killer is back and he is taking revenge on the town.
Killer Frequency is a first-person game where you play as a late-night radio host in the 1980s. You get to solve puzzles, listen to retro music, and hopefully save the lives of radio station callers while you’re at it.
The developers put a lot of detail into creating the authentic 1980s setting, with a huge radio station and objects you can interact with, such as a working record player. You have to gather clues, interact with callers, and explore your environment.
Fans of eighties horror, like myself, will enjoy the nostalgia of the game’s slasher-like theme and graphics. It features tense situations where you have to make decisions quickly to save your listeners.
Team17 started in 1990 as a game developer, games label, and creative partner, and has worked with developers all over the world. The team created the Worms franchise, Hell Let Loose, and The Escapists.
Team17 was also behind the canceled title Allison Road, which generated a lot of interest from Silent Hill fans during its development; and Dredge, a “Lovecraftian horror fishing game.”
You can put Killer Frequency on your Steam wishlist now. It will also be coming to Xbox One/Xbox Series S|X, PS4/PS5, and to Nintendo Switch.
The game has been optimized for a latency-free VR experience. You can also get the game in flat screen mode, if you prefer.
