First and foremost: No, unfortunately we still don’t have a release date for BioShock’s upcoming Burial at Sea DLC. But aside from that, let’s move on to some information to get fans wetter than Mr. Bubbles!
Ken Levine recently spoke with the folks over at the official PlayStation Blog. He shared some new information from the upcoming DLC, that’s divided into two separate chapters: with Booker playing the lead role in the first and Elizabeth in the second. Yes, playable Elizabeth!
The interview reveals that the second chapter will focus more on stealth and smaller-scale combat scenarios as opposed to what players were accustomed to in the main game. As for Booker’s chapter? No combat at all. Yup, that one will focus entirely on the characters and plot, bringing players back to a living Rapture before its fall.
Originally, Ken Levine and his team didn’t want to return to Rapture. They felt it would only be needed if they actually had a story to tell deeming that trip back underwater necessary. Thankfully, they came up with that story, and Infinite’s engine is to thank.
As opposed to the original BioShock, the new technology now allows the team to fill the game world with characters and various interactions, bringing about a level of immersion and a strong feeling of exploring a living, breathing world similar to Infinite’s Columbia.
It’ll be interesting to see how this DLC plays out. I’m really excited for it, even for the first chapter which is stripped of any combat. I trust in the team to deliver another memorable tale, complete with some big twist of course. Who else is excited for this DLC?
