Earlier today a Japanese stream for Zero: Nuregarasu no Miko (or Project Zero 5: The Black Haired Shrine Maiden as it has been called by us westerners) aired to showcase the game being played by “glamorous models” to celebrate the game’s release day. While it’s always fun seeing pretty people scream when they play horror games, something interesting was posted alongside the stream.
The description of the stream was written in English and included an entirely new name for the game: Fatal Frame 5: Oracle of the Sodden Raven. The only place that the Project Zero series is called Fatal Frame is in America. So we have an official stream’s information written in English, a new version of the game’s name, and the use of “Fatal Frame” as the game’s title. Could this imply that Fatal Frame 5 is indeed being localized outside of Japan? It’s hard to tell, but the circumstances have led many to start questioning if Nintendo of America is planning a reveal.
As I’ve said before, Nintendo would be crazy not to localize this game outside of Japan. Here’s hoping these details are actually clues and we hear something soon.
