Peter Thoman, better known under the alias “Durante”, has recently garnered fame among PC gamers for his unofficial patches that fix PC ports of popular games. His first efforts involved fixing the notoriously-difficult RPG Dark Souls and, more recently, he has started working on the cult-classic Deadly Premonition. Wired reached out to Mr. Thoman to ask a few questions about his work.
The interview shines a light on Durante’s modus operandi, his motives and what he’s planning for the future. Sadly, Rising Star Games, who are working on an official patch for Deadly Premonition as we speak, did not want to comment on the article. Regardless, it’s still a very nice piece and I recommend reading it if you can find the time.
