Gamelab 2011 commenced today in Barcelona and along with all the festivities going on, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow has been nominated for 7 awards at the venue. Not just that, but Mercury Steam’s owner, Enric Alvarez, will be on hand to, as David Cox revealed on Twitter, show off “some early design work on Castlevania: Lords of Shadow…SB perhaps.”
SB? Could that stand for Simon Belmont? One fan thought the very same thing and asked David Cox if those initials are indeed intended to represent the series’ most iconic vampire hunter to which he replied:
Watch for it on Friday and some other cool and interesting stuff about the development of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.
We already know that Lords of Shadow, in its initial stages, was being developed as a full-blown remake of the original Castlevania title for the NES. As development progressed, Mercury Steam decided to give fans their own unique take on the franchise instead. We still got some of Simon Belmont present through Gabriel’s character, though, as he wears armor similar to the one Simon wears in Castlevania II. Looks like we may get to see the game when it was actually the Castlevania remake on Friday. Stay tuned for more info.
