The 2017 Nordic Game Awards nominees have been announced ahead of the May 18th award show, and two very familiar games are on the list. Through the Woods, the fable-filled journey of a mother seeking her lost son, has been nominated for Debut of the Year. It is competing against other games released by first-time indie studios based in the Nordic nations.
INSIDE, our own 2016 Game of the Year, is nominated for Nordic Game of the Year, Best Audio, Best Technology, Best Game Design, and Best Art. This somber, graphically minimalist game is packed full of story and emotion, garnering top-two spots on dozens of Game of the Year posts for 2016. It’s really no wonder that INSIDE is nominated for Game of the Year, but it is nice that the sound design guys are getting a little love. Playing an original soundtrack through a human skull to re-record before attaching it to a game is a creepy kind of dedication- and we like that.
We wish the best of luck to PlayDead and Antagonist at the 2017 Nordic Game Awards. Both teams definitely deserve the attention.
