Recently-formed development company Duality Games recently revealed its debut project, a first-person stealth horror game dubbed Unholy.
Set in the Last City of a decaying world, Unholy follows the remaining humans who live in the shadows of creatures of the ‘higher castes,’ hoping to stay out of the limelight and live another day. Players take on this bleak world as Saidah, a mother searching for her missing child- most likely the one surrounded by tentacles in the trailer. To make things worse, there seems to be a bit of a nasty plague and particularly unfriendly monsters going around, so there likely won’t be a shortage of things wanting to kill you. As for gameplay, all we know right now is that there will be some form of sanity mechanic comparable to the one in the Amnesia series. Additionally, players will be able to take advantage of the relationships between the different castes of unholy beings to help them progress through the game.
The premise of the story is interesting, and I am genuinely interested in this city of humans and monsters living co-existing in a high-tension environment, but I think I need to see more of the game before I’m truly sold on the idea. However, the environmental and creature design stand out to me, which makes sense considering that the project’s art director is Tomasz Strzałkowski, an artist who has worked for Epic Games on Gears of War and Bulletstorm, as well as other titles Painkiller and Inner Chains.
Unholy is set to release at some point in 2019, but you can go ahead and add it to your wishlist on Steam. What do you think? Are you interested in seeing where this project goes? Let us know in the comments below.
