The Future Games Show just dropped a chilling new announcement — I Hate This Place, an open-world survival horror game that looks like a blend of psychological terror, brutal combat, and immersive exploration. Developed by Rock Square Thunder, a Polish studio formed by ex-Bloober Team developers, the game is being published under Broken Mirror Games, a new horror-focused label from Bloober Team.

This isn’t just another survival horror game — I Hate This Place is based on the 2022 comic series of the same name, written by Kyle Starks and illustrated by Artyom Topilin. The game leans into Topilin’s distinct ’80s comic book aesthetic, giving it a stylized, nightmarish atmosphere unlike anything else in the genre.
Players take on the role of Elena, a woman who has inadvertently awakened an ancient, malevolent force. Among the horrors lurking in the game’s open world is the Horned Man, an ominous entity that must be avoided at all costs. While some encounters can be fled, others will require fierce melee and gun combat, rewarding quick thinking and adaptability over brute force.
