Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number has officially been announced today through the release of a teaser trailer and a handful of screenshots. The first game may look too simplistic to be unsettling with its isometric, 8-bit visuals, but the glorification of violence is the fuel behind this game’s disturbing gameplay and plot. With the re-release of Hotline Miami on PS3 and Vita, I would hate to spoil the story for you, but trust me, it’s psychological elements are enough to interest fans of the good old ultraviolence. The trial-and-error kill planning is also compelling gameplay design. And don’t get me started on the music!
The sequel to Hotline Miami aims to continue what the first game started; lots and lots of killing. The sequel’s story is said to be a direct result of the events in the first game, but starring new playable characters that have their own skills. If it’s anything like the first game, I expect each of them to have cute little animal masks to wear while they brutally kill people. Daww.
Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number takes us back to murder and a questionable perception of reality later this year. The game will release on PC, Mac, and Linux. No confirmation has been given whether the sequel will arrive on PlayStation consoles. The PS3 and Vita version of the first game is expected to arrive sometime this summer.
