Aptly named developer Destructive Creations has announced this week their first game, “Hatred”, and holy shit is it violent and as far as you can imagine from politically correct. Hatred is a game about acting out a crazed man’s “genocide crusade”, because he’s fed up with the world. Seriously.
If Hatred were to win any awards, it would be the Trying Too Hard to Be Grimdark award; a brooding man saying brooding words while loading his guns starts off this monochrome trailer, and then a montage follows where he can be seen shooting loads of innocent people. He’s the monster of this reverse horror game. Takedown kills, such as one where a woman begs for her life as a gun is put into her mouth and fired, is something Hatred shamelessly allows. Levels shown include a convenience store, residential areas, and even a police station.
The subject matter of Hatred is one that’s quite sensitive, especially after multiple mass shootings in the United States over the last few years. Having only been announced yesterday, Hatred is already causing a stir and upsetting many. But developer Destructive Creations’ intentions, as their site states, was to create a game against the trends. Something not “polite” or “politically correct”. With that, it seems they have succeeded.
Hatred is one part Postal minus the comedy and one part Manhunt, Rockstar’s controversial 2003 snuff-style stealth game. It’s expected to launch on PC in Q2 2015.
