DreadXP, publishers of indie horror hits such as My Friendly Neighborhood, announced today that they will publish the retro psychological survival horror title Heartworm.
The game, aimed towards fans of old-school entries in franchises such as Silent Hill and Resident Evil, follows a grieving young woman named Sam. Spending her days lost in the internet, seeking out the macarbe, Sam stumbles across the unexplainable and enters a world of terror in the process.
PSX-inspired graphics meet modern conveniences in a package that features hallmarks of the genre; (optional) tank controls, multiple endings, pre-rendered cutscenes, and lots of head-scratching puzzles.
Heartworm looks like a dream game for 90’s survival horror fanatics, feeling both familiar and fresh in equal measure.
Heartworm is set to release in 2025 for Windows PCs via Steam. You can watch a trailer for the game below and play a free demo, which is available now.
