Micheal Myers, the iconic masked killer from the Halloween franchise, has appeared in quite a few games at this point, but surprisingly almost none have been his own. Despite guesting in games like Dead by Daylight and Call of Duty: Ghosts, ol’ Mikey only ever got a starring role in an ancient Atari 2600 game. Now, for the first time in nearly 40 years, Halloween gets its own game again, with the browser game Halloween: Escape Micheal Myers.
It’s a simple top-down Endless Runner style game, we play as Halloween 2018‘s Laurie Strode on the run from The Shape as he chases her down. Avoiding obstacles, collecting pumpkins (extra lives) and listening to some rad music from the new film, I have to admit I find it super charming. While I’m not really a mobile gamer, I was actually a big fan of these dumb browser movie tie-in games back in the early 2000s. I played the ever loving crap out of Dawn of the Dead: Blackout in browser back in the day, and even non-tie in games like The House, and lots of Albino Blacksheep junk. So maybe nostalgia is clouding my views, but I dunno. I really like it. Check it out for free here.
