Visionary filmmaker Guillermo del Toro had a few choice words last night after the world’s second look at Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding. “FUCK KONAMI”, he wrote on Twitter, alongside reactions to the new footage of Kojima’s first title upon leaving the publisher after two decades of employment.

del Toro followed with “Konami cancelling SH after PT is one of the most moronic things I’ve ever witnessed.” The man held nothing back, and I’m sure thousands of gamers agree with him given how exciting P.T. and the reveal of Silent Hills was.

The director, including actor Mads Mikkelsen, appeared in the new (and strange) footage of Death Stranding during The Game Awards 2016 as characters. The extent of del Toro’s involvement on the game is not yet known, but a “Presented By” or producer credit at least wouldn’t be surprising. We’ll continue to cover Death Stranding until we’re clear its horror elements are not a focus. But based on the footage we’ve seen, it’s still pretty freaking weird and disturbing.
