GOG and Steam are having Halloween sales

Halloween is a holiday in which kids dress up and go around houses asking for candy, but for those of use who are considered “too old” by their grumpy neighbors, there are always a number of digital stores that tend to have sales around this time of the year. There’s rarely a better time to stock up on horror titles, so let’s see what we can find!

First off is Good Old Games, the DRM-free retro&indie store. Their “No Trick, All Treat” sale consists of 18 games, most of which are big names: I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream, both Amnesia games and Clive Barker’s Undying, just to name a few. Prices vary between $14 and $1.79, but on average one of these games will cost you about $3, so if you are in the mood for some quality indie or retro horror, then GOG is where the party’s at.

Steam is also having a major sale, though just like the zombies featured in most of these titles, the games seem to have formed a horde. The list of games partaking in “Steam’s Halloween Sale” is utterly baffling and you’ll find everything from Triple-A releases to the most obscure of indie games. Be warned: unlike GOG, this sale does not limit itself to well-known titles and gems of yesteryear, and will feature a few absolute stinkers. Stuff like Zombie Pirates will be featured right next to Alan Wake here, so be sure to do some research before stuffing games in your shopping cart. That aside, the sheer size of this sale probably means you should be able to find at least a few titles that pique your interest.

Other stores, such as Origin, Green Man Gaming and Shiny Loot are having some sales themselves, though none specifically themed for the holiday.
