Did you know that in 2008 Universal Pictures started making a Bioshock movie? It’s true, they even hired Gore Verbinski( known for directing The Ring and the Pirates of the Caribbean series) to direct it. Unfortunately due to reasons like budget and creative difference, the movie never really got going. Conceptual Artist Kasra Farahani worked on the project and did various artwork for the sets which you can check out here.
It seems the biggest reason the film never happened was because Verbinski wanted the film to be rated R and have a budget of $200 Million. That kind of money is unheard of for rated R films, it’s still a shame though. It sounds like he was a big fan of Bioshock and wanted to do the game justice.
