Remedy Entertainment’s Sam Lake presented a new trailer for Alan Wake 2 at Gamescom Opening Night Live. The game had just recently been delayed by ten days, but its October 27th-launch is still imminent.
While there are a few new gameplay scenes and in-game cutscenes in it, the latest trailer for the highly anticipated sequel to the 2010 title focuses on its live-action sequences.
As with the rest of the game, its live-action production starring, among others, Ilkka Villi (Alan Wake), and Sam Lake (Alex Casey) has also come a long way since Alan Wake and Max Payne came out. The production value on display is nothing short of astonishing.
During Opening Night Live, Sam Lake (creative director) explained that Alan Wake has been trapped in The Dark Place, a dream reality, for the past 13 years. And since Alan, an author, had been writing crime fiction set in New York City, The Dark Place is taking the shape of a nightmare New York City.
Lake pointed out that while they had used different forms of media in previous games, live-action has been mostly for show, stating that “this time around we’ve integrated live-action seamlessly into the experience to show the dream-like nature of The Dark Place”.
Alan Wake 2 is set to launch October 27th on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
