It’s been five years since the World War Z movie released in theaters. Brad Pitt’s passion project gained notoriety for its troubled production, which featured an entirely re-shot last act, extremely questionable writing, and awkward re-writes (sorry Matthew Fox). If you ask me, it’s a terrible movie and not just because it strays from the book. The one saving grace is the film’s unique take on zombie hordes, which move quickly and unnaturally. Well, the new World War Z video game seems to be adapting the one good thing about the movie: zombie swarms. They’re looking pretty cool.
Developer Saber Interactive released today a World War Z video focused on the art of The Horde. The video showcases how swarms of zombies move effortlessly through environments and cluster up to scale tall obstacles. Hundreds of zombies move almost like liquid as the video goes from one unique setpiece after the next. An “Advanced Gore System” means zombies break apart into pretty chunks as well. Not bad.
World War Z is set for release in 2019 on PS4, XBox One, and PC. It looks to be a fun co-op game for sure.
