Friday the 13th: The Game is pretty damn great (if it works for you). Unfortunately, the game experienced a pretty bumpy launch, with console players especially suffering from matchmaking issues and prolonged server connection problems preventing play. Since then, Gun Media and Illfonic have been working diligently to improve the experience across the board, to alleviate the excessively long matchmaking times console players have had to deal with. Today, they released a major patch and shared news about how they’re making the console versions on par with the PC version.
Starting with the PlayStation 4, patch version 1.04 is now available on PSN to solve outstanding matchmaking issues and remove gameplay exploits. DLC such as the Tom Savini Jason is available as well. For Xbox One owners, the team is working with Microsoft directly to improve matchmaking and expects the patch to go live sometime this week. The Steam version isn’t exempt from the improvements party; advanced security features to prevent cheating and exploits are to be added soon.
The team behind the game once again apologizes for the game’s technical issues in their Facebook status update about the state of the patches. I really hope they can sort this all out finally so they can look forward on how to grow the game instead.
