Friday the 13th Free for Xbox Games With Gold on 10/16

Halloween is nearly upon us, (Halloween starts October 1st and goes until the Spirit Halloween stores close) and as such get ready for many a spooky deal across all of your favorite gaming platforms. Xbox is getting ahead of the curve by announcing that Friday the 13th: The Game is coming to Xbox’s Games With Gold games for the month of October (and a bit into November). Joining Tembo The Badass Elephant, Disney’s Bolt, and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge, Friday the 13th will be free to all Xbox Gold and Xbox GamePass Ultimate members starting October 16th and ending November 15th. The game is normally $19.99 (also available for Nintendo Switch for $39.99), so the price of free is pretty good.

Friday the 13th: The Game is a Jason Voorhees fan’s dream game. Scream, run, and survive as one of Camp Crystal Lake’s camp counselors across recreations of Camp Crystal Lake from the film series — and stalk as one of several of Jason’s most iconic looks. Starting with Jason Voorhees as he appeared in the second film, all the way to Jason Takes Manhattan (even including the Faux Jason from Friday the 13th Part V: A New Begining), the selection is awesome beyond words. Each has their own skills and abilities based around the way Jason appeared in that film (for instance, Jason was able to run and use tools in some of the films, but not others), and a series of brutal unlockable kills to inflict on the poor councilors. On top of that, Jason is motion-captured from actor Kane Hodder, who portrayed Jason across multiple films and established many of the killer’s most iconic ticks and styles. Playing as a survivor, we’re left to scramble to find a way to safely escape before Jason makes sure you and all of your friends. We’ll keep you updated on any other horror sales or giveaways as we gear up for our spookiest of seasons!
