In its quest to have every classic slasher villain in its roster (except for Jason Voorhees), Dead By Daylight will soon star Nightmare on Elm Street‘s Freddy Krueger. The nightmare molester has today been teased as the game’s latest addition, following Leatherface and Halloween‘s Michael Myers.
Hint of the addition of the Bastard Son of 100 Maniacs was with a trailer entitled “Don’t Fall Asleep”. A metal rail is then shown slashed, a nod to Freddy’s knife-clad glove. No further details were shared, but following each other monster added to the game, Dead By Daylight will receive a playable Freddy Krueger, a new map, and perhaps, akin to Laurie Strode as a new survivor for the Halloween DLC, a hero character. Perhaps Nancy Thompson. This wouldn’t be the first time Freddy has appeared as a DLC character in a video game, either. He’s available for play in Mortal Kombat (2011).
I may not be the biggest fan of Dead By Daylight, but I appreciate what they’re doing. Freddy is one of my favorite slasher icons, so I’ll definitely check this content out when properly revealed and released.
