The DayZ dev team have released a brand new blog post about their current standing with impending features. The latest post from the team is a good one as it gives us a firm timeframe on when we can start to expect some updates, the earliest being next week!
For starters, fireplaces will arrive next week alongside item physics and throwing. Players will be able to create fireplaces for cooking purpose as well as new animations that will support the game’s new physics system. Items can now be thrown and will fall realistically instead of becoming a static part of the environment when dropped. Some items will also be made flammable with this experimental branch update. Does this mean we’ll be able to throw flaming objects? Perhaps eventually!
The highly requested mouse acceleration issues will also finally be addressed with next week’s experimental patch: players will now have 1:1 movement when moving their heads and variable delay when equipping items. Small weapons will hinder movement very slightly while heavier weapons will be a tad more sluggish. This system will simulate weight and remove the sluggishness of control that has plagued the game since its release.
Set to release soon, but without specific dates are the additions of the bow and crossbow, new food and wildlife models, an AKM gun and DayZ‘s first SMG. Clips for the Mosin as well as an adjustment to all firearms will also be coming in order to rebalance things. But that’s not all; the art teams have worked on new player faces, clothing (such as a tracksuit), and the new town Karmanovka (as well as the expansion of existing towns).
The team may also be nearing a means to break the game’s 100 person server limit as they have stated that they’re working on improving how the game client speaks to the game’s servers. Whether or not this means we’ll see an immediate jump in servers with over 40 people remains to be seen – but let’s hope.
DayZ Standalone may be a bit bare bones when compared to the mod, but with each and every content update, it’s hard not to become excited. Check out the full blog with added pictures at the source.
