David Cage is certainly a notable figure in the video game world, particularly as a creator of story rich, yet often dark, choice-based adventure games. But long before the likes of Beyond: Two Souls or Detroit: Become Human, Cage and his studio Quantum Dream created Fahrenheit (also known as Indigo Prophecy in North America). Now fans will have a chance to relive the story as the game has just been released for PS4 in a special 15th anniversary edition.
For anyone who missed it the first time round when it was released all the way back in 2005, Fahrenheit tells the story of Lucas who is on the run from police after coming to at a murder scene; a murder he doesn’t recall committing. With multiple endings and different character perspectives (sometimes played out simultaneously), this was how the world was introduced to the creative storytelling prowess of Cage. Oh, there’s also an interactive sex scene if that’s your thing.
Here’s what the special edition of Fahrenheit: 15th Anniversary Edition will include:
- The game itself (naturally).
- A specially created case and sleeve.
- A sticker set.
- A high quality art book.
- A thank-you letter written by the team at Quantum Dream.
The original was received positively by gamers and critics alike, even winning a couple of awards including Best New IP in 2005. This anniversary edition is a chance for fans of old to rekindle their love of early David Cage games, and it will also give newcomers a taste of what adventure gaming was like a decade and a half ago.
Fahrenheit: 15th Anniversary Edition released yesterday and is currently priced at £24.99 GBP / €24.99 EUR / $49.99 AUS (RRP for all regions). Unfortunately for American fans, this special edition is only available in Europe and Australia. We’ll keep you posted if we hear of any information about a possible US release.
