IMGN.PRO has announced today that their horror adventure game Kholat is set to release on PlayStation 4 via PSN digital download on March 8th. Their game is inspired by the Dyatlov Pass Incident, which holds its 57th anniversary today, and is also narrated by the brilliant death and dying connoisseur Sean Bean. Kholat is open world game and is powered by Unreal Engine 4, so all that snow and ice looks lovely, and being the exploration type game it’s said to be, it sounds very Ethan Carter to me.
For those of you who don’t know that the Dyatlov Pass Incident is, it was an event during which nine Russian students lost their lives while hiking in the Ural Mountains on February 2nd in 1959. The deaths and mysterious circumstances surrounding the event we never uncovered, and remain a mystery. IMGN.PRO have created a website explaining what is known about the events here, which does definitely intrigue.
Kholat was originally released on Steam during June of 2015, and has very positive reviews on its Steam page. For the anniversary of the event, you’ll get the title on Steam at a discount, with 57% off…
I am merely a console peasant, so haven’t played it, but it does look interesting and the real-life mystery attached (Don’t google it) should add some interesting components to the story. It also contains music from Mary Elizabeth McGlynn of Silent Hill fame.
I’m quite looking forward to this one.
