Escape Dead Island announced; is a psychological mystery game

Deep Silver has announced today yet another entry in the Dead Island series with Escape Dead Island. Coming to PS3, Xbox 360, and PC in the fall, Escape Dead Island looks to be a story-driven psychological mystery game set in between the events of the first game and its sequel. Uh..that’s a surprise.

Noir-esque in tone, Escape Dead Island stars Cliff Calo, a rich kid looking to do something dangerous. Cliff goes to the island of Banoi to document the aftermath of the first game but in the process begins to struggle with his own sanity and the mystery behind the origin of the outbreak. The trailer shows Cliff entering some sort of manic episode and become unsure of what’s real. I have to say, I’m intrigued by the concept.

Escape Dead Island also sports a cell-shaded art style and third-person gameplay. Of all possible spin-off ideas that Deep Silver could went for, a psychological mystery game is definitely my speed. Now, all we need for them to do next is Saints Row X Dead Island and I can die happy.

Escape Dead Island will retail for $40 and offer exclusive access to the Dead Island 2 beta when purchased at Gamestop.
