Bandai Namco has finally released the first gameplay footage of their upcoming action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware, entitled Elden Ring.
It’s been a good while since Soulsborne fans had the chance to get more info on the new title, but the time has now come. The first 20-minute gameplay video was shown live via a stream today, giving us a first look at how the game will work and what players can expect.
The biggest difference with Elden Ring, compared to previous titles like Bloodborne and the Dark Souls series, is that this time Elden Ring will have a huge, open world to explore and, presumably, die in.
Quite a few fans have voiced concern about this decision, as they preferred the intricate and thought-out level design these games were known for. It was assumed that an open world would take away too much of the Soulsborne vibe fans love so much. However, the gameplay trailer seems to address this issue head-on and showed off dungeons, castles, swamps, and all the FromSoftware variety that players crave.

The gameplay trailer wasn’t the only big news for Elden Ring today. FromSoftware also revealed a whopping five different editions of the game will be available, with some including equally whopping price tags.
There is the regular Standard Edition with includes just the game. Next, there’s the Deluxe Edition, which includes a digital artbook and soundtrack. The Launch Edition for €69.99 adds stickers, a poster, a patch, art cards, and a steelbook.
The Collector’s Edition for €189.99 adds an artbook, the digital soundtrack, and a 26cm-Malenia figurine to the package. Unfortunately, this one is already sold out.
Last but not least, there’s the Premium Edition, also sold out, for €259.99, which also comes with a numbered Malenia helmet on top of everything else and is exclusive to the official Bandai Namco store.
Elden Ring will launch on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC on February 25th, 2022.
