It has been two years since we first got to play around with Isaac, the little boy who had to escape from his insane mother. We ran around the cellar with him, fired tears at malformed monsters and biblical figures, cussed the nastiest words we could come up with at Greed and, most importantly, it was always fun. Isaac, we wish you a happy birthday, as does your creator and, apparently, the crew behind Indie Game: The Movie.
An excerpt from the movie was uploaded to Youtube, which contains 30 minutes of Edmund McMillen explaining the origins of the game. It’s a really interesting piece and worth watching, even if you’re not a fan. Edmund really has a good way of talking about sensitive issues and it’s almost sad to hear him talk about some of the more personal problems that arise when designing a game. It’s also kind of funny when he doesn’t know where a sentence is going anymore and we get gems like “she’s really fanatic with the Christian Christianity.”
