Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has a new trailer showing off some bloody good gameplay, just in time for E3. The Kickstarter-funded heir to the Castlevania throne brings a new boss to the table, who appropriately uses blood as a weapon. Named Bloodless, the trailer shows her facing off with protagonist Miram while spewing blood all over the place. The action is fast-paced as Miram fights through what appears to be a multi-stage battle against the Bathory-esque monstrosity. There are a few clever bits if gameplay in there as well, including dodging geysers of blood with floating umbrellas made…of blood.
If any Symphony of the Night fans were worried by the game’s delays and lack of gameplay, this trailer should convince them that director Koji Igarashi is on the right track. While the 3D gameplay is a new addition to the formula, Bloodstained‘s art style is vivid and colorful, and the trailer brings to mind several familiar locations from the Castlevania series, including rotting monster-ridden ships, and watery catacombs. The music is also pitch perfect, coming from original Symphony score mastermind Michiru Yamane.
