Yaiba is one game that’s existance makes no sense. Someone thought to make a spinoff to Ninja Gaiden, that not only doesn’t star series protagonist, Ryu Hayabusa, or one of his pals, but have the game be about seeking revenge against him (while killing zombies and listening to rap music). Stylistically, Yaiba is dramatically different from the series that it’s related to, but I’m more than fine with that. It has a sort of 80’s graffiti art style that just pops off the screen.
Some new videos of Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z have slipped out of E3, including a gameplay segment and the game’s intro. I’ve also included the second developer diary with Team Ninja’s Yosuke Hayashi and Comcept’s Keiji Inafune.
While I doubt this game will be the Ninja Gaiden title that fans of the series have been waiting for, this looks exactly like what I had hoped to get from Lollipop Chainsaw.
