Hot damn. Bethesda has released a brand new trailer for DOOM Eternal and things are looking intense. id Software’s sequel to the beloved DOOM reboot is cranking up the game’s narrative to give the DOOM Slayer an epic story of his own.
The new DOOM Eternal trailer introduces several new characters — some on the side of good and others on the side of evil. The last vestiges of mankind appear to be letting the slayer do what he does best and staying out of his way, while some new hellish antagonists do the exact opposite.
DOOM has always been about a guy taking on hell’s forces, but Eternal looks to have introduced some additional world building to compliment the non-stop action gunplay. Hopefully that doesn’t affect the DOOM Slayer’s stoic demeanor. Master Chief he ain’t. Just let the boy kill in peace.
DOOM Eternal is set for a March 2020 release on Windows PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Google Stadia. If you’re itching to rip and tear in the meantime, the recent re-releases of DOOM and DOOM II have been updated to support 60fps framerates, quick saves, and additional gameplay add-ons.
