I don’t think many people expected much from today’s Nintendo Direct, but wow oh wow. First there was Deadly Premonition for the Nintendo Switch (available TODAY) and the announcement of Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise. Wow again! Now, we’ve got DOOM 64!
The Nintendo 64 title is jumping several generations into the future to release on Nintendo’s latest console on November 22. It’s unlikely that the port will be exclusive to the Switch, so this re-release will probably be announced for other platforms soon. We’ll have to wait for a confirmation from Bethesda, but I don’t imagine that will take long.
DOOM 64 released in 1997 as a sequel to DOOM II. It was developed by Midway Games rather than id Software proper. Its release on the Nintendo Switch follows that of DOOM, DOOM II, and DOOM 3 which all released on Switch (and Xbox One and PS4) in June.
