It looks like DOOM 3‘s Oculus Rift support has been delayed and is no longer shipping with the Kickstarter orders. Originally, Kickstarter backers were to receive a copy of the game along with their development kit. DOOM 3 BFG Edition, was slated to be the first Oculus ready title.
With this delay, the Oculus Rift team is offering backers their choice of store credit in either the Oculus store or in Steam Wallet funds. Or, as another option, a cancellation and full refund of their order. Though, I sincerely doubt many backers of the development kit truly hinged on the inclusion of DOOM 3.
I believe the Oculus Rift will do great things for the horror genre in general. It has some great potential to pull players into their games like never before. Hopefully it won’t be too long for DOOM to receive proper support for the device.
