Update: Doom 1/2/3 Coming to Switch, Xbox, PS4

Update: Officially announced, not only are they coming to Switch, but they’re also coming to Xbox One and PS4, and 1&2 are coming to iOS and Android. These all release today! I’m stoked.

I… uh… oh, okay. So about an hour ago, people noticed that the entire trilogy just sort of… appeared on Nintendo’s UK website. No announcement, no big update, not even so much as a tweet. The three games just unceremoniously farted their way out onto the site. Within less than an hour of this discovery, all three titles were yanked back off. They were probably meant to be announced during the QuakeCon Doom panel streaming right now. In the meantime, we can talk about what their descriptions said about them:

DOOM

Celebrate the 25th anniversary with the re-release of the original DOOM (1993). First released in 1993, this introduced millions of gamers to the fast-paced, white-knuckle, demon-slaying action the franchise is known for.

Experience the classic demon-blasting fun that popularized the genre home or on-the-go

  • The expansion, Episode IV: Thy Flesh Consumed, with 9 additional action-packed levels
  • Local 4 player deathmatch
  • Local 4 player co-op

DOOM 2

This beloved sequel gave players the brutal Super Shotgun to bear against deadlier demons, and the infamous boss, the Icon of Sin.

Battle the demon hordes at home or on-the-go on Nintendo Switch.

  • The Master Levels, 20 additional levels made by the community and supervised by the developers
  • Local 4 player multiplayer
  • Local 4 player co-op

DOOM 3

In this critically acclaimed action-horror re-telling of the original DOOM, players must battle their way through a demon-infested facility before entering the abyss to battle Hell’s mightiest warrior – and put an end to the invasion.

Thisincludes the Resurrection of Evil and The Lost Missions expansion packs.

That’s pretty damn great stuff right there, it’ll be nice to have the complete series, especially with Eternal coming, on Switch. Glad to see they’re all fully featured with their expansions, and Doom 3 will presumably be the BFG remaster, which un-fucks the flashlight. I can’t wait for these to go live, especially the original two games with their local co-op and vs. We’ll update when they’re live. Sorry, Bethesda, Nintendo messed up on ya.
