Thanks to lovely Reddit user StoicRaza, we’ve got some proof that guns will indeed be in Resident Evil 7, so there’s no need to worry.
During the E3 demonstration, there’s a point when the “player” starts watching the videotape from the demo, and multiple screens come to life around the main screen. These mostly show other shots of the Sewer Gators crew doing their thing- as well as a few out-of-context shots we don’t have answers for yet (including a cop standing in a garage, first-person driving of the white car we see in the Desolation trailer (before you get up-in-arms about possibly being behind the wheel of a car- remember RE already did that in Resident Evil 6, and driving vehicles in general, has been in the series since 4), and the camera man Clancy with their bonds seemingly cut after Pete tries to help him at the end of the demo. The biggest thing that was noticed in amongst all of these things, however, was a shot of the Family Man barreling down on us- and the player holding a gun on him. Yep, what looks to be a Glock in his hand, and it even looks like he gets a shot off.
So, yeah. Resident Evil VII looks to be bringing everything back from the classic days of RE‘s gameplay- with a new camera perspective (much like Resident Evil 4 did back in 2005).
