GREETINGS, EARTHLINGS! It’s time for one more classic remake, friends — this time of the disturbing dark humor series Destroy All Humans!, one of the titles that helped define what the 6th generation of consoles could be. From deep frying your enemies via space laser to performing not-so-delicate anal probes, the series was wicked, malevolent fun. The tip of the hat casting Richard Horvitz (the voice of Invader Zim) as Orthopox-13 was a nice touch as well for just that right moment in pop culture history. Well, all that is ancient Earth history now, it’s time to rebuild into something new! A remake for current-gen platforms sounds like the perfect plan!
Rammstein’s Ich Will (a song about wanting to control the populace) is a great, deliberately jarring choice. The grim, horror vibes of Rammstein overpowering the 1960s Americana perfectly describes the tone these games go for — with that bit of humor injected as well (did… did he shove a whole man up a cow?). Either way, it’s great to have this series back. It’s been a long, long ass time since a new Destroy All Humans! released; the last release in the series was 2008’s Path of Furion, which got very unfavorable reviews. Hopefully, the long break can spark new life into this series, presumably if this remake sells well. We’ll see soon enough, as it’s planned to release on Xbox One, PS4, and PC (it is currently on Steam but some fans are wary that it could jump ship to Epic at the drop of a hat) in 2020. This might get a gameplay reveal during E3, but who knows — I had previously thought it might be announced at E3, but today’s news made me remove it from my hype list.
We’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available!
