Deep Silver denies IGN story regarding sequel

Deep Silver has denied working with Yager Development on a sequel to Dead Island.

A story appearing on IGN site cited sources close to Yager that a sequel to the tropical zombie romp was currently in production between Yager and Deep Silver.

Guido Eichmeyer, Development Director of Deep Silver told IGN, “We are neither working with Yager on Dead Island 2, nor do we have any contractual agreement with Yager about any project at this point.”

However, Eichmeyer did state that his company and Yager have a close relationship, based on personal and professional connections between the parties.  He also went on to say that while they are not currently, and do not have any plans to work on a game together, that possibility is not entirely out of the question.

A sequel to Dead Island is currently not in concept or production with external partners.  Eickmeyer told IGN that the company is considering its options on whether to go forward with a sequel or not.

Back in November, Techland did file a trademark for Dead World, giving rise to speculation that a sequel was all but an announcement away.  However ever since the trademark was filed, Techland has been mum on the details.
