Just announced, a new update is coming regarding the remake of 2008’s Dead Space this Friday, March 11th. The update is coming in the form of a new stream on the franchise’s YouTube page at 10amPT/1pmET. Based on the title of the stream, ‘The Sound of Fear‘, it looks like one of the (if not primary) focuses will be on the game’s sound design. All marketing for the stream thus far has also emphasized that it will be “best with headphones”.
It’s been about 6 months since our last update from the team at EA Motive on Dead Space Remake, which showcased early looks at Isaac and the Ishimura, along with a few details regarding how they’re expanding on the original game using content that was forced to be cut at the time by the original developer, Visceral Entertainment (EA Redwood Shores at the time). I have to admit, the new team (and their transparency regarding the work they’re doing) have sold me on Dead Space Remake, along with details like the addition of Isaac’s Zero-G freefloat from the original game’s sequels, and of course, the return of Isaac’s voice actor Gunner Wright to provide new voice acting for the character (a first for Dead Space 1 as Isaac was mute outside of his personal diary throughout — although his grunts were still provided by Wright). I’m also hoping to get another glimpse at the game’s dismemberment mechanics, which EA Motive is taking cues from Resident Evil 2 Remake on.
We’ll keep you posted as more information comes out regarding the stream, and the stream’s content itself. Dead Space Remake will be released across Xbox Series Systems, PlayStation 5, and PC at some point in the future.
