Capcom to Release Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster in September

Capcom recently announced at its summer showcase the upcoming release date for Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, which is scheduled for September 19, 2024. The remaster will feature significant enhancements and quality-of-life improvements, including auto-saving, revamped controls, and an improved UI. The game will be powered by the developer’s own RE Engine, which has been used in many of its recent successful titles, including Resident Evil.

The remaster promises upgraded graphics, with renewed character models, environment details, and realistic effects. Facial expressions, material textures, and blood splatters will look more lifelike. The game will also include overwhelming hordes of the undead with completely remade visuals.

There’s also a Digital Deluxe edition, which will offer 17 extra costumes for protagonist Frank West and 17 music tracks for the in-game mall. Frank, a photojournalist, finds himself trapped in a zombie-infested shopping mall in Willamette, Colorado. The original game took a lot of inspiration from George A. Romero’s zombie film series.

Created by Capcom Japan and produced by Keiji Inafune (Mega Man), the first Dead Rising was released back in 2006. It received an HD remaster for modern platforms in 2016. Over the years, the franchise has seen a number of sequels, with Capcom Vancouver developing Dead Rising 2, 3, and 4 before the studio’s closure in 2018.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and Steam. Check out the official trailer below.
