A new console generation means new debates, so here it comes; how well will Dead Rising 3 run on the Xbox One compared to its predecessors? Eurogamer looked for insight with multiple Xbox One launch title developers, one of which was Capcom Vancouver, the development team behind Dead Rising 3. It’s been said that DR3 suffered from performance issues when people checked it out hands-on at E3, and CV had said that it was preview code at the time. Remember, E3 was 5 months ago, and they’re currently locked into and proud of 30 frames per second.
The game itself will run at 720P while the user interface stays at 1080p. I’m sure as much as you’d all love for the game to be running at 60FPS and 1080P everything, here’s two things to chew on: depth and detail. Josh Bridge, the Executive Producer at CV, states that Dead Rising 1 and 2 fit into the third entry several times over, and the artists were given much more liberty with the amount of creative detail they’ve been able to inject into the world.
When Dead Rising 3 was first announced and didn’t take place in a mall or resort, I’ll admit, I was immediately ticked. But now that the announcement rage has subsided, imagining a co-op playground with no load screens that’s at least double the size of Dead Rising 2 and packed with more stuff… yup, I’m a little stoked. Josh Bridge also says they’re still pushing for as much crazy stuff on screen as possible, which is one of Dead Rising‘s trademarks.
The news sounds swell, but the real test will take place on November 22nd, the Xbox One’s launch. Will you be picking it up and Dead Rising 3? What are your thoughts on their performance specs for the title?
