One of the caveats of enjoying a medium where virtually everything can be downloaded onto your console, updated via the internet and require very little input from you is your internet bill at the end of the month. I have a feeling that January’s bill is going to be a doozy.
Late last night, Xbox Studio Manager Mike Ybarra tweeted about a 13GB Dead Rising update. He admitted that he did not know what the update contained, which isn’t exactly comforting.
So what’s included in this megaton patch? For starters, a user by the name of Lofty posted to the Xbox One General Discussion forum that the update will re-write some already-existing files, so that by the end of it all, you’re really only adding about 1.5GB of new content.
Still…13GB…of what?
Official Xbox Magazine notes that the patch will add Impulse Trigger support – meaning that if you’re about to run out of ammo on the gun you’re using, the right trigger will start buzzing (vibrating?) to let you know. This will also let you know if the vehicle you’re sitting in is about to blow up in case there weren’t any other very noticeable visual cues.
The update will also fix the issue of players being unable to pick up food or weapons if they are grouped in with a bunch of other items, will allow achievements and trials to be properly unlocked and other stability or performance-related issues.
