Update: Confirmed!
Capcom may finally be dropping Xbox One exclusivity for the third main entry in the Dead Rising series. Spotted by the ever-vigilant folks on NeoGaf was a Steam Database listing for Dead Rising 3. What does this mean? Well, the game may very well be coming to PC after having launched alongside the Xbox One last fall.
The listing is labeled as “UnknownApp 265550” and was updated less than an hour ago; there has been 2 users on Steam accessing the game, adding credence to this potential release.
Postings to Steam Database have been fairly accurate in the past with the exception of the Halo games, and Microsoft’s Phil Spencer has gone on record stating that he would like to improve the company’s gaming presence on Windows. Fable Anniversary was just announced for a Steam release a few days ago, so maybe we can expect Spencer to keep his word and publish a Windows PC port of Dead Rising 3 and other formerly-exclusive titles.
I for one would love to finally get my hands on Dead Rising 3. As a fan of the series and someone without an Xbox One, I’ve been patiently awaiting for news like this to drop. Here’s hoping it’s true! I expect that we’ll find out at E3.
