Capcom has revealed today that the Games for Windows Live to Steamworks transition for Dead Rising 2 and its spinoff Off The Record will occur tomorrow. Both titles will drop Microsoft’s defunct GFWL service in favor of Steam, complete with Steam achievements, Steam cards, leaderboards, and cloud save support. Those that own the game through Steam will receive a simple game update. A save data migration tool will be available after launch, so you’ll have to wait a little longer before continuing your save, if that’s what you’re planning
A little bad news for those that own these games digitally on GFWL: Capcom will not be offering Steam codes if an online purchase was not made through Steam. Those with retail GFWL copies can redeem their activation codes on Steam for a Steam version, though. As for DLC purchased through GFWL, no transfer will be available due to a lack of CD/activation keys, Capcom says.
Capcom states that anyone left behind during the migration will still have full access to both of the games, but just not on Steam.
