Dead Island 2‘s fate remains up in the air, but it looks like Deep Silver plans to satiate fans (and keep brand awareness alive) by re-releasing Dead Island on current-gen consoles.
A retail listing on Dutch retailer Bart Smit has shown Dead Island Redux for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The collection is priced at €39.99 and ostensibly contains both Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide.
While there’s no official confirmation the games exist yet, would we really be surprised if they get announced soon? Dead Island 2 is in limbo at the moment, and remasters are a quick and easy way to make some money for publishers and also attract new players. Now, as for what kind of remaster this will be remains to be seen. If this collection is anything like the Metro Redux, we can expect more than just visual improvements. Perhaps the games will play better? Maybe even borrow a bit from its estranged sibling Dying Light? We’ll see soon. Probably.
