After over a year of being in Early Access, Deep Silver is cutting the cord to their experimental MOBA, Dead Island: Epidemic. Sporting an interesting multi-team take on the arena genre and a Diablo-like top down campaign, the spinoff certainly did have its fans, but the team behind it have weighed their options and made a sad decision to cease production.
The game’s servers will stay open until October 15th and there will be heavy discounts on all microtransactions so players can try. This follows other bits of bad news for the series including the negative reception for Escape Dead Island and the silence on Dead Island 2’s progress after Deep Silver dropped Yager Development as the developer in July.
I still have three beta keys that haven’t moved in months.
