It was safe to assume that Dead by Daylight‘s on-going popularity would result in a next-gen console port, but thankfully, the asymmetrical multiplayer will land on the next-generation consoles sooner than expected. Dead by Daylight will be available at launch for both the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S. However, PlayStation 5 players outside of the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, Mexico, New Zealand, and South Korea will have to wait until November 19th.
Behavior Interactive promises Dead by Daylight will run at a steady 60fps and 4K graphics on next-generation platforms, and that over time they will continue to overhaul the visuals; specifically the fidelity of the characters, maps, animations, and VFX. Players on both platforms will be able to transfer their progress to next-generation consoles. According to Behavior’s Frequently Asked Questions page, the upgrade to next-gen will have no impact on the functionality of cross-platform play.
It is also worth mentioning that members of Xbox Games Pass Ultimate, will receive various in-game items, including a free perk, two outfits, and playable characters Kate Dension and The Clown. Sadly, PlayStation Plus members will not receive any in-game items or comparable rewards. At the time, we have no idea if the aforementioned outfits and perk are new introductions to the game or if they’re merely items from the existing catalog, but my personal guess is the latter.
Dead by Daylight is currently available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Steam. Be sure to read our review of the latest Dead By Daylight update.
