2023 was a fantastic year for video games, especially for Alan Wake fans. Alan Wake 2 took home our coveted 2023 Community Game of the Year award and has turned out to be a critical darling that many belive has surpassed the original.
In addition to the many awards, Alan Wake 2‘s success has lead to Wake himself popping up in a number of other popular games, including Fortnite.
2024 looks to continue the Wakenaissance, as the world of Bright Falls enters the Entity’s Realm in Dead By Daylight. The Alan Wake Chapter, set to launch January 30th, is live now on DBD‘s Public Test Build.
The chapter adds a new survivor – Wake – and three new perks to go with him. Champion of Light, fittingly, buffs flashlights. Boon: Illumination provides key info to teammates. Finally, there’s Deadline, a risk/reward perk that increases the difficulty of skill checks but reduces the penalty for missing them.
Better yet, there’s even more exciting news for Alan Wake fans; according to DBD leaker and Twitter user @dvveet, more cosmetics are set to launch with the chapter. The highlights here are two legendary cosmetics, transforming Alan into Rose Marigold and one other mystery character. Could it be Saga Anderson? Jesse Faden? Only time will tell.
The 7.5.0. update releasing on the 30th also brings tons of exciting gameplay changes, buffing underrated killers such as The Onryo and The Hillbilly and reworking quite a few perks and even a realm.
