Last night DayZ developer Bohemia Interactive flipped the switch and put their most significant patch to date online. Version 0.60 of DayZ, which was in the experimental branch of the game for several weeks, is not on Stable branch and available to all.
This update brings to DayZ a MUCH needed performance boost, bringing the game up from its high 20-30FPS standard to far more acceptable numbers. When I tried it a few weeks ago on experimental branch, it was a night and day difference. Playing DayZ is a far more enjoyable experience now that it runs at 6oPFS in most scenes and above.
Along with the massive performance gains, version 0.60 delivers changes to the game’s map, lighting system, graphical settings, UI, new zombies and zombie animations, and more. If you’ve been sitting on the sidelines waiting for DayZ to become “playable”, now’s the time.
