DayZ has just become a more challenging game thanks to the latest patch that has arrived. Patch version 0.55 makes considerable changes to the way the game is played and the difficulty associated with surviving in the harsh landscape of Chernarus.
For starters, zombies are stronger. Yeah, that’s right. There are also more of them per map. These lot are going to pose a much bigger problem for players now that they’re able to work together in packs. But there’s a silver lining to this: their AI has been reworked to support player-stealth. Players can now avoid zombies by staying low and out of their line of site and keeping quiet. Gone are the days where zombies would notice you from a mile away for no stinkin’ reason.
Next up, DayZ‘s loot economy has been revamped to now spawn a larger selection of items within its many structures. Central look economy means all stable servers are now opted into persistence, and that all of the loot that spawns is regulated and controlled by a complex string of numbers and thingies.
A slew of changes, additions, and improvements can be found in the changelog for patch 0.55. If you’re curious about the state of the game, Bohemia Interactive has also released a devblog detailing what’s next. ETA to the new graphics renderer: two months. Woo!
