DayZ Standalone updated to v.50; adds temperature, farming, barricading, and towns

It has been a long time coming, but DayZ Standalone‘s stable branch has now been updated to version .50. The latest stable build of the game adds a whole lot of stuff (except vehicles, but those are coming soon), from a bunch of new items and weapons to new gameplay mechanics.

For starters, players can now barricade doors by using a lockpick. The start of planned farming features have been added in the form of using gardening lime and tomato seeds on tilled land. The weather and water will now impact players, meaning that extreme temperatures will be a hazard, adding an incentive to stay dry and warm. Additionally, a bunch of new weapons and clothing types have also been added, including waterproof items, clothing, and backpacks.

Changes to loot tables, item use (such as duct tape to fix clothing and sewing kits to mend wounds), the map (now with 5 new towns and several new unique locations), animations, and crafting can also be expected.

There have been a lot of changes, so I suggest checking out the full changelog at the source. Time to plan a trip to Chernarus!
