Dean “Rocket” Hall, creator and project lead of DayZ Standalone has announced today on Twitter that the game has sold 2 million units since release. The standalone version of the popular ARMA 2 mod has amassed a considerable amount of sales since its release six months ago.
DayZ is still in Steam Early Access, having been release not in beta, but alpha form. Bohemia Interactive hopes to get the game into a beta state sometime around the end of 2014. Updates have hit the game biweekly or so, adding new features such as physics, weapon types, and clothing. Bohemia Interactive’s roadmap shows that they intend to start introducing vehicles by Q3 2014.
I’m sure regular readers of Rely on Horror know that I’m a big fan of the game, often streaming my play sessions to our Twitch account and dumping videos on my YouTube channel. There’s a reason why this game has sold so well: it’s fun!
